Welcome to ByEvent
ByEvent is a set of services for managing events. An event is anything that is scheduled to occur at a particular time, such as a meeting, conference, party, or any other type of time-delineated occurrence.
At present ByEvent remains at concept level only, with no actual functionality implemented. This is a placeholder site for the planned services.
ByEvent will provide a complete set of features for creating, scheduling, coordinating, and announcing events. ByEvent will be fully integrated with other services in the By* family, allowing proper coordination of events with persons, businesses and locations.

ByEvent is part of a broader set of services called the By* (pronounced "by-star") family of services.
The By* family is a coordinated set of services based on a set of key abstractions, designed to allow highly generalized interactions within and among each other. These abstractions include such things as individual persons, businesses, physical locations, and events. The By* family includes services to represent and cater to each of these abstractions, and to allow rich and complex interactions among them. The result is a coherent and powerful, generalized services model.
Within the By* family, ByEvent represents the generalized abstraction of an event. It provides a set of features for managing events, and for linking events to other abstractions within the By* family, such as individual persons (ByName, ByNumber, ByAlias), businesses (BySMB), and locations (ByWhere).
The By* family is itself a work in progress. These services are in varying stages of development, in some cases providing only very basic capabilities.
All By* services are Libre Services, and can be freely copied and reproduced by anyone. Everything required to reproduce ByEvent or any other By* service is available at the BySource and ByBinary software distribution sites.
Libre Services are an extension of the principles of free software into the domain of Internet services. Free software allows complete freedom of action: it may be copied and reused without restriction. Libre Services provide equivalent freedom of action: they are Internet services that may be reproduced and redistributed without restriction.
Libre Services are implemented entirely in free software, based entirely on patent-free protocols, and reproducible as a complete service by anyone. Any company, organization or individual can reproduce and host any Libre Service, and deliver the service to others. Or any group of individuals can host the service for themselves, thus acting as their own service provider.
